Mind Body Title

water imageWELCOME To Nursing with Mind Body Medicine
Mind Body Medicine integrates mainstream western medical practice with a variety of psychological interventions which focus on healing the person as an integrated whole, rather than a collection of symptoms. This approach assists individuals in harnessing their intrinsic restorative capacity to manage illness, healing, and wellness.

The field of Mind Body Medicine is becoming more and more prevalent in western medicine. With this new emerging framework it is imperative that nurses have evidenced based knowledge, understanding, and support in order to implement this discipline into their own practice.

This web site will provide nurses and other health care professionals with information, evidenced based resources, and teaching tools all with the convenience the internet has to offer.

Why Mind Body Medicine?
Mind Body Medicine takes a psychobiological approach to healing focusing on the union of mind,  and body. It is a holistic approach that honors each individual's capacity for self-knowledge and healing. The body has a natural potential to heal itself. Through various Mind and Body practices patient's can be taught how to unlock or release internal healing processes. The bodily self is primary and occupies a place in consciousness that equals awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Becoming more aware of the body provides patients with experiential access to healing processes within themselves.

The integration of Mind Body Medicine is completely compatible with existing health care approaches. This holistic and patient centered approach enhances and complements traditional medicine responsibly within an evidenced based practice.

The emergence of Mind Body Medicine within Western Medicine is continually a work in progress. As it changes, so will this web site.
